Care & Use Instructions

Faiure due to bath mat

One of the questions that we're asked most often is, "how long will it last".

Due to the non-porous surface of the newly refinished fixture, you will find that it cleans with ease and abrasive cleansers are not needed.

While your fixture may be used in the time designated by the technician, (usually 24 hrs.) the new coating will actually continuing the curing process for 30 days.  Extra care is advised until this curing process has completed.

  • Do not use the refinished fixture until after the time designated by the technician.
  • Do not leave soap or bottles or any object on the surface of the refinished fixture.
  • Do not let a leaky faucet go unrepaired.
  • Do not use abrasive cleansers to clean the fixture.  (Soft Scrub is abrasive)
  • Do not use bath mats with suction cups on a refinished surface.
  • Do not remove surface dust with tools or hand.  Surface dust will gradually eliminate itself with use and cleaning.
  • The best way to keep your refinished fixture clean is to wipe it down with a towel after each use.
  • Be sure to keep the caulking around a tub in good condition.
  • The following commercially available cleansers are effective and safe for your refinished fixture....

How long will it last?

Below are care and use tips that will help you get the most out of your Tubz Plus refinished fixture.

And the answer is, ......well, that depends greatly on the way the refinished fixture is used and cared for.

Assuming that that the refinished item was properly prepped and the coating was properly applied, the refinish could last in excess of 10 years.

Case & point:  Recently Tubz Plus was called by one of our apartment customers which is located near the FSU campus in Tallahassee, Florida to refinish some bath tubs.  while we were prepping the tubs to receive the new coating, we recognized some unique characteristics of the primer coating.  Upon closer investigation, our suspicions were confirmed.  We had refinished these same bath tubs 15 years prior.

Now we admit that these tubs showed some wear and were in need of refinishing again, but considering the environment (student housing) and the span of time, they actually were holding up quite well.

In another case, we refinished 5 antique clawfoot bath tubs in a historic home in Thomasville, Georgia.  About 7 years later, the homeowner proudly advised us that the bath tubs looked as good as they did the day they were done.

And that's what we like to hear.
